My name is Caden Ardoin and I am a member of Boy Scout Troop 162 here at St. Edmond Catholic Church. As part of earning the rank of Eagle Scout, I am working on a project to collect school supplies for the benefit of a non-profit organization called Respire Haiti.
Founded in 2011 by Lafayette native, Megan Boudreaux, Respire Haiti provides education and health care services in Gressier, Haiti. My project will directly benefit the 500+ students enrolled at Respire Haiti Christian School, many of which come from restavek situations and have experienced some level of trauma, abuse and hardship in their lives. The school and organization provides these students with the necessary emotional, physical and mental support they so desperately need.
I will be setting up a donation box in the vestibule of the church starting in early July. As you do your school supply shopping for the upcoming school year, please consider picking up some extra items and donating them to the Respire Haiti Christian School by dropping them off in my collection box. Or, if you have any leftover supplies from the previous school year, those would be appreciated as well. The box will remain in place through the months of July and August.
If you would like additional information on Respire Haiti, please visit their website: www.respirehaiti.org
Thank you and God Bless, Caden
